Stories Alive sponsored by
The Stories Alive program brings literacy to life for our 3,700+ K-4th students. Sponsored by Hills Bank & Trust, the Foundation brings in a national author and/or illustrator for a week long artist-in-residence series. Students explore the writing and illustrating process, hear the great things about being an author, the hard work and practice it takes and how to make stories and characters come alive! This highly engaging program is a treasured Linn-Mar tradition.
District-Wide Music In The Schools
The Foundation proudly supports several highly engaging music in the schools programs for the District including artists-in-residence series Opera Iowa, Orchestra Iowa and Pan American Steel Drum Ensembles. Another signature program supporting the arts launched in 2014 is Music Connects. This program provides a used instrument and summer music lessons for any 5th grade student who wants to participate in band or orchestra but faces financial obstacles to participation. Music Connects will continue to support students as they advance into middle school and high school music with larger instruments.
