2010 Lion Open Re-cap
The 2010 Lion Open, held on July 29th, overtakes as the best year ever in terms of weather, attendance and so much more. Here are the highlights:
- New this year were the TWO tee off times. There were seven groups teeing off at the 7:30 start and 24 groups teeing off at 1:30 pm. All in all, there were 120 golfers!
- Thursday, the 29th, must have been the best day of the SUMMER! Temperatures were very pleasant, especially in the morning, and continued throughout the day;
- The income figures are still being tabulated, but it promises to be great;
- Presenting sponsorships from two valued Linn-Mar service providers - OPN Architects and Knutson Construction;
- Over $600 was raised for the 50/50 raffle. Lorna Barnes was the lucky winner of over $300 and the Foundation received over $300;
- Lynette Dolder was the lucky recipient of the Rough Riders Suite (another raffle prize);
- Steve Stickney (Linn-Mar's high school band director) was the putting contest winner. Steve, Mark Harris, Jim Hoffmann and Tim Larson had also made "Hole in Ones" during the contest, so a "putt off" was held and Steve Stickney took home the $100 prize. The other contenders all received $40 Texas Roadhouse gift certificates, donated by Jennifer Walsh.
- Plentiful food at the "luncheon"

- And, let's not forget the tournament winners! Dave Berry, Jeff Harding, Brian Berg and Corey Ranney with a score of 57! Dave's group also won last year's event;

1st Flight (1st place): Scott Uhlir, Mark Harris, Kirk Weber and Lynette Dolder (score of 64)
1st Flight (2nd place): Bob Lorenz, Chuck Stroo, Samantha Towlerton and Chas Hughes (score of 64)
2nd Flight (1st place): Kelly Ungs, Lance Staker, and Steve Kelly (score of 66)
2nd Flight (2nd place): Jeff, Stacey, Lonnie, and Shirley Rogers (score of 68)
Door Prize winners each received $20 gift certificates
from Hunters Pro Shop. Winners were: Jim Hoffmann, Jeff Hartwig and Lorna Barnes.

The 2009 Lion Open, held on July 31st, goes on record as the best year ever in terms of weather, attendance and so much more. Here are the highlights:
- 34 foresomes - two more than capacity. One noble team rode around in the Hunter's Ridge maintenance cart;
- $17,295 in income - only one year (2007) ever earned more;
- Presenting sponsorships (the first year for this leadership category) from two valued Linn-Mar service providers - OPN Architects and RDG Planning and Design;
- 33 staff and alumni golfers - the Linn-Mar "family" showed up in force;
- Almost $1,000 in raffle tickets sold. Tina Monroe was the big winner, taking home an autographed Zach Johnson Masters flag;
- Craig Van Dyke was the Putting Contest Winner;
- Plentiful BBQ thanks to Nelson's Meat Market;
- And, let's not forget the tournament winners! Dave Berry, Corey Ranney, JJ Mrozinski and Jeff Harding.
